AIRF CONDUCTS REFRESHER COURSE FOR WELLBEING TRAINERS


        All India Railwaymen's Federation the oldest and largest federation on Indian Railways had taken up the Wellbeing project as decided in the International Transport Workers' Federation (ITF) Congress in 2018 and was formally launched in second half of 2019.

        Though the project was delayed due to COVID-19, AIRF and affiliates worked actively even in COVID times training Virtually and later in off-line mode and had satisfactorily reached to the stage of sensitization of all cadres working in Indian Railways with the active support of a Mumbai based NGO named M/s Trijog and ITF, New Delhi.

        AIRF is now equipped with trained cadres and First Responders in all the 17 zones and 8 production units on Indian Railways. As part of rejuvenation, AIRF leadership framed modules for a three day refresher camp from 17 to 19 July 2023 and invited 40 First Responders to attend at New Delhi with 6 trainers.

First Day  

Refresher programme Started in presence of Com Shiva Gopal Mishra, GS/AIRF & GS/NRMU, Com Praveena Singh, Women Representative in ITF Tourism Sector, Com Anoop Sharma, Divisional Secretary, Delhi Division, NRMU and Railway Board officials Dr Smt Suganda Raha, Director General, Railway Health Services, Shri Deepak Peter Gabriel, Principal Executive Director, Industrial Relations, Dr Shri K Sridhar, Principal Chief Medical Director, Northern Railway, Dr Smt Amita Jain, Medical Director, Northern Railway, Central Hospital.

Welcoming the guests and participants Com Shiva Gopal Mishra, said "Wellbeing of working and retired Railwaymen and their families is our mission and we will put in all our efforts to make this project a big success" He appreciated the efforts of trainers and first responders as they have been working all through the toughest times of COVID-19, when the project had originated.

Speaking on the occasion Dr Smt Suganda Raha stated that AIRF is doing a Noble Cause, since Mental Well Being is a subject that was never on the mind of administration and she thanked AIRF for training the cadre and also refresher training is necessary for all the trainers. She further said that the recommendations from this Refresher Course post completion will be taken into consideration before taking a decision for future course of action by Railway Board. 

Shri Deepak Peter Gabriel said that it Railway Board was seriously considering to allocation of Rs 17/- per head as a part of Well Being.

Dr Shri K Sridhar explained the various facilities extended to patients in Railway Hospitals on Northern Railway.

Com Imran started the refresher training with Stress and its management, followed by lunch break. 

Post-lunch session was conducted by Com Harsha Shelke on First Responder Skills followed by tea break and Com Namita Kumayu explained Peer Support And Peer Education skills.

The day ended at 18.00 hours.

Second Day

Com Kona Vishnu started the second day stressing the importance of drafting and Report Writing followed by Group activity among 4 groups.

Com Shatrughan Pareek had a Brain Storming Session about the Well Being Programme in his zone followed by lunch break.

Post lunch session discussed "Helping in Special Situations" by Com Amrit Mishra.

Post tea break Com Vivek Singh discussed "Self Care for Well Being Trainers" followed by Com Praveena Singh's discussion on Future Course of activities in Well Being Project.


Third Day 

 Evaluation of the performance/activities by different zones in Well Being Project and active interactive discussions of all zonal incharges for mapping, before being handed over to Indian Railways.
