AIRF/SCRMU HOLDS HUGE PROTEST AGAINST NPS

        South Central Railway Mazdoor Union (SCRMU) an affiliate of All India Railwaymen's Federation (AIRF), India held a huge rally terming it as "Simhagarjana" - A Lion's Roar with more than 1000 employees amidst drum beats and dancing depicting Workers Unity against the draconian National Pension Scheme (NPS). This programme was conducted in response to the International Transport Workers' Federation (ITF) call to observe 27 March to 03 April 2023 as Railway Global Action Week. Chief guest was Com Ch Sankara Rao, General Secretary of SCRMU and also Treasurer of AIRF, Com Kalva Srinivas, President of SCRMU, Com Udayabhaskar, Assistant General Secretary, SCRMU, Com Muralidharan, Treasurer, SCRMU, Com P Ravinder, Divisional Secretary, SCRMU and Various leaders from Zonal and Divisional level.

        Speaking on the occasion Com Sankara Rao Vociferously criticized the Anti-labour policies adopted by the Government of India, he said while the workers are working hard and improving the out put, the Government is cutting down jobs, freezing the Dearness Allowance arrears that was due from 01.01.2020 to 30.06.2021 and forcing the implementation of National Pension Scheme (NPS), which is detrimental in the long run and is totally Capitalist in its outlook helping the Corporates. Com Sankara Rao said "Government had recently announced a committee to 'Improve NPS', which is not acceptable in any form and our demand is legitimate WE WANT DEFINED OLD PENSION SCHEME (OPS)". AIRF and affiliates being the oldest and largest trade union on Indian Railways will not accept NPS in any form under any circumstances and will continue to fight against the unjust partisan attitude of the Government of India. He said that the workers are fighting right from district level to the zonal and national level and the fight would attain bigger form in days to come.
