"OPS - OUR LEGITIMATE DEMAND"

        Dehradun, the State Capital of Uttaranchal witnessed huge rally by workers from various Central Government departments such as Indian Railways, Income tax, Defence, Postal, Hospital workers and State Government departments such education department, Water, Electricity board workers along with municipal and Sanitary staff rallied from Divisional Railway Office near Dehradun Railway Station to District Collectorate office via Prince Chowk and Tehsil Chowk under the leadership of Com Shiva Gopal Mishra, Convener, Joint Forum for Restoration of Old Pension Scheme (JFROPS) to Protest against National Pension Scheme (NPS) on 01 July 2023. The oldest and largest federation on Indian Railways i.e., All India Railwaymen's Federation (AIRF) represented on behalf of 1.3 million Indian Railway workers.

        Addressing the gathering Com Shiva Gopal Mishra, Convener, JFROPS and General Secretary, AIRF said "A person drawing a monthly salary of Rs 30,000/- draws paltry sum of Rs 516/- per month as pension under NPS post retirement. By all means this is NOT ACCEPTABLE, be it a State Government Employee or a Central Government Employee. Our demand is Straight and Simple "Repeal NPS and Restore Guaranteed Old Defined Pension Scheme (OPS)" and If the Govt fails to respond to our demand, then, we will be compelled to call for an ALL INDIA STRIKE". He said that we are organizing "Gherao Parliament on 10 August 2023" if the government does not accept our demand. He warned further that "We shall not hesitate to stop the trains all over Indian Railways." The crowd cheered and shouted the slogans "NPS GO BACK."

        Notable among other attendees were Com Jagdish Chimwal, Com Naresh Gurung, Com Virendra Kumar, Com B P Singh Rawat, Com Sitaram Pokhariyal, Com Ugrasen Singh, Com Ashok Sharma, Com Vinay Mittal, Com Pramod Pathak, Com Mangal Singh, Com Raj Singh Pundir, Com Dhirendra Mittal and Com Rajesh Chaubey.
